With a new addition to our blog, this post begins a series dedicated to sharing “behind the scenes” peeks into our studio. “In the Studio” reveals how much we love what we do, the pride we take in our family’s craftsmanship and the fun we have with the creative process. Join us!

Right now in the studio, the Padilla Designs team is hard at work on a custom estate design project for homeowners in South Maui. These are very special clients, who have been following our work for over 15 years and are finally working with us on a design project.

When the entire process is complete, their estate will be elevated to artwork, with fire features, solid copper entrance gates (including a main gate and matching pedestrian gates), column lamps, and a custom flower shower.

In the gallery below, you’ll see some of the process that went into creating the main gate and pedestrian gate, made of solid copper in a bamboo and banana leaf motif. Click on one of the smaller images to open a lightbox and see captions for each photo.
