Project Overview
Elements of Fire
The developers of the International Market Place were looking for a specialty fabricator to help design, engineer and install the fire elements for this iconic retail center. The fire elements include the fire tower, fire chandelier and over 100 custom tiki torches. All fire elements were structurally, mechanically and electrically engineered. Because of the high profile public locations all elements had to be CSA and/or UL listed in order to meet the fire marshal’s approval.
Fire Tower
Known as “Lamaku Torch Tower”
This 30 foot cascading fire tower is the primary feature of the project along Kalakaua Ave. The tower serves as the beacon for the retail center and can be seen from miles away. It consists of 13 four foot tall individual lanterns. Each lantern was fabricated from 316 stainless steel and powder coated with a bronze finish. Each lantern is fully automated and the system can be turned
on and off remotely.
Kuhio Chandelier
Architecture Incorporates the Feel of Fire
The Kuhio Chandelier is the North beacon for the retail center. It is suspended from the third level floor and is over 20 feet long. The chandelier is comprised of eight individual glass and stainless steel lanterns. The system is fully automated with and internal network of wire and gas piping.
Tiki Torches
CSA Certified Design
A unique design exclusive to the International Market Place. These tiki torches were fabricated from solid brass construction with a bronze patina application. They are spread throughout all three levels of the open air mall, including on the juliet balconies and banyan tree house bridges.
