Welcome back to another installment of Padilla Designs blog series “Featured Projects” . This blog series focuses on showcasing completed projects of Padilla artwork after they are installed.
We get clients of many different backgrounds, styles and personalities. They come to us with their plans, ideas and interests, asking for our help in bringing their visions into a physical representation through art. We aspire to meet every single challenge with interest, creativity and dedication from the beginning stages of planning through to the finishing details of installation.
ABOUT THE PROJECTS
These “Featured Projects” are a trio of gates inspired by the clients love for Hawaii and the Ocean.
Owner and Master artist Larry Padilla explains his creative process stating; “The aquatic vision that settled in my mind, offered an eternal feel of two humpback whales, one breaching and one diving, kind of a yin and yang approach. To introduce a feeling of fun I incorporated a Maui sun, complete with sun-rays. I depicted the ocean water to be soft and flowing, this was the most challenging aspect, and at the same time rewarding as it unfolded.”
These one of a kind pieces are executed using Copper and Brass for the media and was created to blend and harmonize with the surrounding environment to command a truly aquatic feel. The artist goes on to explain, “Another challenging part was the execution of the design in metal. The aquatic had to look soft, at the same time keeping the whole of the design within the framework of the gate and still giving the art a three dimensional look.” The designers of Padilla Designs met for the next step of the process, getting the design onto paper; during such meeting we discuss what is important to the client, the dimensions of the final pieces as well as the final outcome. Once it is understood what the client is looking for we focus on each part of the design, how it will be executed from fabrication to installation. Finally the fabrication process beings.
